Who we are

Calder Green Reserve is a saltmarsh and riparian area, on the lower reaches of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River. The aim is to restore the indigenous flora and fauna to this area and create a habitat for birds and other native species. It is 1.56 hectares, named after a campaigner for the Estuary, Bernie Calder, and the donor, Mrs F Green. Calder Green Reserve is owned by Forest & Bird, and managed by branch members, local rangers, and the community.
