We are a community group that works with others along the length and breadth of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River catchment.
Our dream is to develop and strengthen relationships between all the awa community groups and to ask them, what we, as the Network umbrella committee can do to help them with their restoration projects and their long term goals, to support and advocate for the ecological health of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote awa and margins .
This is about providing the followers and volunteers with interesting, inspiring and challenging posts that take them on a journey of environmental, from the beginning of the dream, through the challenges, thinking about the now, and inspiring a vision about the future.
We work with local authorities such as Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury on river issues, and we also work alongside and for community groups, schools and others that work along the river. Currently the River Network consists of 13 different community groups working to improve the health of the river from its source to the estuary.
We are also involved in catchment-wide river activities such as the annual Mother of all Clean-ups in May, World Rivers Day, Estuary Fest and other events.
We are always looking for people with a range of skills to continue the growth and development of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network. Come along to one of our committee meetings, held every 4th Saturday of the month at the South Library Board Room at 9:30am or send us an email at email@example.com
